This painting was inspired by a hot air balloon trip over the Shropshire countryside in Spring, 2025. It felt so serene up there and the opportunity to have a bird’s eye view on the landscape was brilliant. I want the viewer to feel suspended just as I was, peering down at the beautiful Shropshire countryside.

I have captured the expansiveness of the countryside as it was all laid out before me like a giant map. The vibrancy of the yellow rapeseed and the new spring grass made the countryside feel so fresh and crisp in appearance from the hot air balloon basket.
